Thoughts Amidst Crisis

Hello! You're here. Thank you for dropping by. I hope you're doing well, staying safe and healthy during this difficult time.

This past month has been difficult. I know some of us feel helpless because we really want to take part and do something, yet some of us continue to brave on. Our frontliners, those people in the medical field, in local government units, our police force, firemen and the likes. Those in basic services - manufacturing and production, logistics, merchandisers. These are people who selflessly serve our nation amidst this crisis we all are facing. They are our heroes.

We can be heroes for them too.

We can be heroes not only for ourselves but for our families and our frontliners as well if we stay home. Simple, right? We will be a lot of help to our frontliners if we take our part to be responsible citizens. Let's not go out if not needed. We can't see our enemy, but we can try to avoid them by observing social distancing.

Personally, the past month was very challenging for our family as we lost dear friends and family members and we couldn't be with their families. We lost relatives, I lost one of my bestest friends, and one dear family friend who's like a father to my dad as well.

Inevitably I can't help but reflect.

One lesson I've learned is that all the while we think that we are in control of the world. We think we have everything figured out. We keep thinking that we always have a "tomorrow". But really, there's a reason why we call now, the "present". It's a gift, a blessing, to be able to wake up for another day. To see our loved ones. To be able to breathe. Smile. Eat. Play. Sleep. And wake up again.

We take so many things for granted. The mere fact that we can go out without fear. Have a date. Go to the movies. Do some shopping. Everything we do outside our homes.

Most especially, the people we ignore or sometimes 'bully' at the grocery store, they are the ones giving us their service at the expense of their own health and safety. The time they should be spending with their families, they share with us. Those people in the manufacturing and retail industry, thank you for choosing to come to work to provide more goods the whole community can use.

To all the frontliners, thank you for all your sacrifices and selfless service.

Some of the things that appease me are photos of bright sky, unpolluted cityscapes, the beautiful nature which seemed to be able to breathe again.

After this crisis I wish we all be kinder and more humane not only to our fellowmen, but most especially to our environment. I hope we remember that we are not above it. We are mere specks of dust in this vast Universe. I really hope we all be kind to one another. Be more compassionate. Be more loving. Be more fair. Be not judging.

I hope not only we keep safe amidst this crisis, but also we keep the lessons after.

Let us all be kind. Always.
